Happy New Year and plans for 2019

Updated: Nov 5, 2019

Hello again and a Happy 2019. This is a rather late best wishes as we have just returned from a trip away. Not in Hygge this time as, wimps that we are, we decided to go for some winter sun.

We have spent a relaxing month on the island of Lanzarote, where we quite fell in love with the friendly people, its black, remarkably fertile soil, Volcanic Mountains and lovely beaches. It would appear Lanzarote is a Marmite Island - you either love it or hate it. Away from the touristy places we found eclectic museums, wonderful art galleries, homes built in the lava, lava caves and tunnels running under the sea to name but a few of the highlights.

We have a new Campervanhygge Youtube channel – so as well as our Hygge trips we will upload a short summary of our Lanzorote adventure to show you how much there is to see and maybe tempt you to take a trip there yourself. We saw plenty of motorhomes and campervans whilst we were there as well!!

Episode 3 of our tour round Scotland’s Route 500 is currently in slow production, meant to do more whilst we were away but got rather carried away exploring Lanzarote.

Anyway back to Hygge. Garry has been to a local graphics company and they have made up some great stickers for the van, which now just require us to attach them properly – could be a challenge! We have also had some business cards made to promote campervanhygge, which we will be leaving in conspicuous places!

We are already planning some future adventures for 2019, when Hygge comes back from his habitation check and MOT. Firstly probably down to visit our long time friends in South Wales. We haven’t seen them in a while so it will be lovely to meet up again and maybe get to climb a few hills whilst we are there as well. Will give you a heads up about any sites we find. I did have a go at sheep shearing a few years ago, remarkably difficult, trying to hold onto a lanolin covered shearer with a huge sheep between your legs is not easy. Needless to say I wasn’t offered a job.

We are hoping to discover more of France this year, regardless of the outcome of Brexit! The Caravan and Motorhome Club have guidelines and helpful advice for first time travellers and post 29th March travelling in Europe. I already have a good map of France and will shortly be calling the Caravan Club regarding channel tunnel bookings and initial campsites, breakdown cover etc. It is worth noting, they offer good deals if booked together. Also there are the French Aires, (lots of guides and info online) which mean we can travel on a tight budget, more to come on this later.

We are very excited to have booked our very first music festival in Hygge this year, we will let you know how we get along.

Then of course we will no doubt be back down to Cornwall, out of the main season. We haven’t been along the North East coast of England for many a year. Bamburgh, Berwick on Tweed and Dunstanburgh to name a few places on the list. Then there is Scotland, so much we still haven’t seen up there. Not forgetting beautiful Wales ………… Oh dear so many places and simply not enough time.

We have been watching the many vlogs on youtube over the winter and have been constantly inspired by people travelling all over the world. Simply packing a few belongings, getting in their vans and going. Wonderful!

And finally I read this quote from one of my favorite actors Keanu Reeves on Linkedin and wanted to share it:

‘None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an afterthought. Eat the delicious food. Walk in the sunshine. Jump in the ocean. Say the truth that you are carrying in your heart like hidden treasure. Be silly. Be kind. Be weird. There’s no time for anything else.’

So we are getting out there and enjoying life’s simple pleasures while we can and hope we can inspire you to get out there and do your thing too.

We hope you will visit us at Campervanhygge on Youtube if you like it please give us a thumbs up and subscribe. Link below.
